What does BiNe-ENGAGE stand for?

BiNe‑ENGAGE builds on the concept behind the regional initiative “Bildung verNetzt” (German for “education connected”, short: BiNe). Developed jointly by the Baden‑Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) and Heilbronn University (HHN), this initiative strengthens collaboration among staff and faculty within the Heilbronn educational landscape. Its guiding motto, “vernetzt & inspiriert wachsen” (German for “growing connected and inspired”), expresses the belief that learning gains impact when people and institutions connect, exchange ideas, and inspire one another.

As a collaborative effort between Heilbronn University (HHN) and the German International University (GIU), BiNe‑ENGAGE brings this idea into an international context. The program extends the spirit of connected and inspired growth into a global learning journey, with a clear focus on intercultural collaboration and exchange, shared learning, and personal and professional development across borders. Its name reflects this underlying purpose: “Education Networked for Global Academic Growth and Exchange.”

What does BiNe-ENGAGE offer?

The learning and networking journey supports both personal and professional growth. Building on the supplementary materials (BiNe-Guide), the program fosters meaningful exchange and collaboration to help participants advance toward their individual goals. With this international version of BiNe, we also aim to strengthen competencies in intercultural communication and cooperation. By bringing together diverse backgrounds and experiences, the initiative lays a strong foundation for future projects and collaborative endeavors.

Overall, BiNe enables participants to…

  • clearly define their goals and pursue them consistently – while empowering others along the way.
  • recognize their own effectiveness and understand how individual actions can shape a shared future.
  • develop essential future skills that provide orientation and confidence in the workplace and beyond.
  • build networks, create added value for their own projects, and foster joint initiatives.
  • embrace learning as a key part of personal development, where reflection and even setbacks are valuable.

The target group for participation includes lecturers, researchers, and other staff members working at educational institutions – primarily from the German International University (GIU) in Cairo and Heilbronn University (HHN).

How does BiNe-ENGAGE work?

BiNe-ENGAGE is a learning and networking opportunity based on the interplay of various elements:

The Goal

At the beginning of the BiNe‑Journey, each participant sets an individual, self‑chosen goal. Throughout the program, they continuously work toward this goal with the support of others, fostering both personal and professional development.

The BiNe-Group

Participants receive support from their group, which offers a space for exchange and reflection throughout the entire journey. Each group consists of four people and is intentionally composed to be diverse, bringing together individuals from different educational institutions, fields of activity, and countries.

We are convinced that every person contributes their own valuable wealth of experience, and it is precisely this diverse exchange that makes the program unique.

The BiNe-Guide

Participants are accompanied by the BiNe‑Guide, which provides selected topics, exercises, and impulses to encourage exchange and support them in …

  • discovering new perspectives,
  • taking away concrete ideas for their own development,
  • gaining motivation to try new things, and
  • preparing for the group meetings.

What does the BiNe-Journey look like?

BiNe-ENGAGE Journey overview
April 15, 2026 at 2 p.m.

The program begins with a joint kickoff session, where you receive an introduction to BiNe‑ENGAGE and your group members.

Duration: 1 hour

Your group meets in four separate sessions for exchange and joint exercises that inspire growth and help you advance toward your goal. When and where you meet is entirely up to you and your BiNe‑Group.

Duration: 1 hour (each)

Your journey begins with a clear goal and a flexible action plan. You share both in your first group session and keep working on them as you progress.

BiNe-ENGAGE helps you make intentional use of your existing networks, expand your networking activity, and reach your goals faster through meaningful connections.

By working on a strategic network approach and increasing the visibility of your work, you begin to attract support, unlock opportunities, and build a powerful network that helps you move forward.

By aligning future requirements with BiNe-ENGAGE insights, you build clarity, confidence, and momentum for long‑term development that carries you forward beyond the program.

May 26, 2026 at 2 p.m.

We conclude with a joint closing session for all participants. Together, we reflect on the journey, celebrate achievements, and receive inspiring insights from guest speakers on intercultural exchange and collaboration.

Duration: 1.5 hours
