Without a doubt: Electronics and information technology are key technologies that play a major role in almost every device in our daily lives. And while development stagnates in most basic technologies, experts expect to see a continuous innovation boost in electronics.
The study of electronics at the Heilbronn University exactly met my needs to satisfy my thirst for knowledge in electronics. Especially the family atmosphere at the university allowed me to develop myself. In the course of my subsequent doctorate, it was the professors and staff at Heilbronn University who supported me and shaped my further career.
In the course of your studies you will learn to design and operate state-of-the-art electronic systems while studying bilingual.
The programme is oriented on future requirements for successful engineers. That includes a strong focus on “Systems Engineering” capabilities. You will learn the technical “language of engineers” (simulation, specification, etc.). Mastering this form of communication, in combination with a profound technical knowledge, leads to a successful career as an engineer especially in international teams.
During the basic studies you will learn all the necessary basics in the fields of mathematics, computer science, physics and electrical engineering. Since the first year is taught in English, you have also the opportunity to improve your German language skills with an obligatory intensive German course.
In the advanced study period, which is taught mainly in German, you have the opportunity to specialize according to your preferences and strengths. For this purpose, you can choose between specializations in the fields of power electronics and information technology. These range from microcontroller programming, digital signal and image processing, control engineering, networked systems to power converters, electrical drives and the associated circuit in technology.
You will conclude your studies with a Bachelor's thesis, which is often conducted in the strong local world-wide oriented industry.
With us you will learn in a practical way and make contacts with the industry during your studies.
„The high level of knowledge and skills of electrical and IT engineers are one of Germany´s most important resources.“ (VDE).
As the "region of world-market leaders", the Heilbronn-Franken area is proud to provide a highly dynamic and attractive environment with optimal possibilites for your career entry and advancement. As a consequence, there are many opportunities for a future-proof position with a broad and interesting range of tasks, e.g. at producers of electronic devices, in the chemical industry, plant engineering and construction, automotive companies and their suppliers, enterprises in the information and communication technology sector as well as the oublic sector.
The basic studies contain basic engineering knowledge and also basic knowledge of Electrical Systems Engineering.
Compulsory German language course is part of the programme.
The main studies broaden the basic knowledge from the basic studies and teach a broad range of specific subjects. Lectures are complemented by practical exercises in our state-of-the-art laboratories.
Succesful completion of German language course of 1st year is required for main studies.
Before the beginning of the 5th semester Proof of German Language Skills must be submitted:
The new knowledge and skills will be applied in the practice semester where all students work independently on engineering tasks in an industrial firm.
In the last study phase, you have considerable freedom to specialise in certain key topics that you have worked on in your internship. In addition, you can choose from a range of courses in other engineering programmes.
Finally, you will also get an insight into business studies and enhance your social competences.
The last part of your studies consists of the Bachelor thesis. This will be a project at the university or in cooperation with a company that is planned, organised and implemented independently by each student.
Doctorate: Upon completion of your Master's degree, you will also have the opportunity to pursue a doctorate within the framework of university cooperations.
