The International Master of Technical Innovation (IMTI) is a technology-focused Master of Science programme. It is designed for students with a strong background in engineering or engineering-related disciplines. A pure Business Administration (BWL / Business Studies) degree usually contains too little engineering and technical coursework to meet the academic requirements of the programme. IMTI builds on prior knowledge in areas such as technical systems, automation, data-driven technologies, and applied R&D, which are essential from the first semester.
For this reason, applicants are required to hold a Bachelor’s degree with substantial engineering content. Degrees focused primarily on business or economics generally do not fulfill this requirement.
Applicants with technical-business or interdisciplinary degrees (e.g. industrial engineering or technical management) may be eligible if at least 50% of their coursework is technical or engineering-oriented.
Yes. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field generally provides a very good foundation for the International Master of Technical Innovation (IMTI). The programme builds on strong technical competencies such as software engineering, data-driven systems, automation, and applied research—areas that are typically well covered in Computer Science curricula. These skills are directly relevant to IMTI modules from the first semester onwards. Applicants with a Computer Science background therefore usually meet the engineering-related admission requirements, provided their degree includes sufficient technical depth and scope.
Yes. International IMTI students receive support with accommodation through the International Office at Campus Künzelsau. The International Office provides guidance on housing options, the local rental market, and application procedures. While accommodation cannot be guaranteed, the team supports students before and after arrival. For housing-related questions, please contact the International Office at Campus Künzelsau: international-kuen@hs-heilbronn.de.
Yes. IMTI students are allowed to work alongside their studies, and the programme is designed to support this. Wherever possible, lectures are scheduled from Monday to Wednesday, giving students additional flexibility for part-time work, internships, or project-based employment. In addition, the programme actively supports students in establishing contacts with companies in the region, particularly through industry projects and cooperation partners. This structure helps students combine their academic studies with valuable professional experience, contribute to financing their studies, and build a professional network.
Due to organizational reasons, admission decisions can be issued from January 15 onwards.
Yes. A second information session will take place on January 8, 2026. This session is intended to address any remaining questions and to provide an update on the current status of the application process. All applicants will receive an email invitation with further details in advance.
