The European Union's Erasmus+ programme

HHN Studierende

Heilbronn University participates in the European Union's Erasmus+ programme.

Erasmus+ is the European Union's programme for promoting education, training, youth and sport in Europe.

The International Office coordinates international activities within the framework of mobility in the following areas:

  • KA 131: Mobility of individuals
       1. SMS: Mobility of students (study and internships) with programme countries        and international mobility with partner countries
       2. STT: Mobility for further education and training purposes for higher                        education staff
       3. STA: Mobility for teaching purposes for higher education staff
       4. BIP: Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP)

Detailed information on the various Erasmus+ mobility programmes can be found on the website of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Heilbronn University has bilateral Erasmus+ agreements with over 110 partner universities in programme countries as well as with some of its global partner universities.

The list of Erasmus+ partner universities in program countries includes, among other things, the faculty-related study exchange opportunities agreed upon for HHN students and the advisors responsible for the respective Erasmus+ partner universities.

  • As part of the EU's Erasmus+ programme, HHN students can apply for a tuition-free exchange place (for one or, in programme countries, two semesters) at one of our Erasmus+ partner universities and for an Erasmus+ mobility grant. Further information, specifically for Erasmus outgoings, can be found under the menu item Erasmus for Outgoings. Information on the application process for a study abroad programme and the eligibility requirements can be found under the menu item Application.

  • Students with a disability (GdB 20 or higher) or a proven disability or chronic illness who are participating in an Erasmus stay abroad, and students who are taking their child/children with them on an Erasmus stay abroad, are eligible for special funding in addition to the Erasmus+ mobility grant under certain conditions. The International Office provides support in planning and implementing Erasmus mobility and submits the relevant applications for special funding to the DAAD.
  • Within the framework of ‘blended mobility’, a physical short-term mobility phase (5–30 days) can be combined with a virtual learning phase under certain conditions.

  • Starting with the Erasmus project in 2022, additional participants may apply for special funding under certain circumstances: students from non-academic backgrounds and working students who are unable to work during their stay abroad. The International Office will provide information on this topic at the information events on Erasmus study abroad programmes and also individually upon request. Further information can be found in the flyer ‘Erasmus+ Additional Financial Support - Overview for Participants V2-1’, which can be found under the menu item Erasmus for Outgoings.

  • Erasmus+ internships: Students and graduates can apply for funding for internships at organisations or companies in programme countries via the Coordination Office for Practical Study Semesters. Further information can be found under the menu item Financing your stay abroad.

  • University staff can participate in Erasmus+ mobility for teaching purposes (STA) or for further education and training purposes (STT) as part of Erasmus+ staff mobility. Disadvantaged persons (disability, chronic illness, with children) have the opportunity to apply for special funding. Further information on the funding conditions and funding rates can be found on the university's intranet in the ‘International’ section. There you will also find information on special funding for STA and STT mobility for university staff.
