MIBIM/MITM Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements:

An excellent or good first degree in Business Studies or in a business-related discipline (210 ECTS* credits and a German average grade of 2.5 or better or an equivalent international qualification). At least 50% of the Bachelor courses need to be related to business (Management, Economics, Finance, Controlling, Marketing).

The admission process will be based on the first degree/BA degree. Master degrees will not be taken into consideration.

Applicants holding a degree with only 180 ECTS have the opportunity to obtain the missing 30 ECTS during the Master Programme by attending additional subjects offered by the Faculty of International Business.


Language Requirements:

The programme is completely taught in English. In order to assure a high quality of English in the Master course, applicants are required to proof a high proficiency in English by one of the following certifications:

  • IELTS min. 6.0 overall band score
  • TOEFL internet based test min. 75 points
  • Cambridge CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) min. 170 Level B2
  • Cambridge CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) min. C2
  • Oxford Test of English (OTE) min. CEFR B2 in all modules

The TOEFL code of Heilbronn University is 2751.

No other certificates are accepted.

Please note that suitable proofs do not include:

  • TOEFL ITP
  • A first degree completely taught in English
  • Certificates issued by universities

Only native speakers of English are exempt from this requirement. A native speaker is considered to be someone who was raised in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, UK, or USA.

Desirable Experiences:

If their first degree meets the entry requiements, applicants who have been trained in course-related jobs or have successfully studied abroad may receive bonus points for:

  • Work experience, preferably in course-related areas
  • International experience - working or studying abroad as part of your Bachelor's programme

The bonus points may facilitate the admission to the Master Programme.
