Programme Overview

The programme provides practical knowledge at the intersection of artificial intelligence, automation and digital transformation. On the programme, you will learn:

  • how to structure, analyse and specify complex production systems
  • how to work with production systems in practice and how to programme AI-based applications
  • expert knowledge in the fields of artificial intelligence, image processing, digitalisation, applied automation technology and the digital twin
  • additional knowledge of industrial working practices, systems thinking and teamwork

Through practice-oriented teaching involving laboratory work and project-based tasks, students are optimally prepared for the challenges of the digitalised, networked industry and the smart factory.

With us, you will learn in a practical manner and establish contacts within the industry whilst still studying.

A key feature of this degree programme is the wide range of optional modules, which allows you to focus on your own areas of interest. Practical laboratory sessions form an important part of the programme.

Specialisation

In the third year of study, you have a great deal of freedom to choose your own path and can set your own priorities based on the insights gained during the work placement semester. You can also take various lectures from other degree programmes within the faculty. Naturally, modules on management and soft skills are also offered.

Applied Project

Specialisation and Technical Electives (Lectures and laboratories)

There are 4 specialisation tracks availablle as per the elective table.

The degree programme culminates in the Bachelor’s thesis, in which a project is independently planned, organised and carried out at the university or in collaboration with a company.

Career and Perspectives

The increasing digitalisation and networking of production facilities are fundamentally transforming industry: modern production facilities are not only interconnected internally, but also interact with the outside world, for example in logistics and digital business models. In doing so, these facilities become part of a large digital ecosystem which, supported by machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies, operates in an increasingly automated and optimised manner.

This technological development is accompanied by a growing demand for qualified engineers who possess interdisciplinary skills in the fields of production engineering, digitalisation, AI and machine learning (ML).

Thanks to their interdisciplinary training, graduates are in demand across various sectors in industry, at IT companies, in research or at start-ups, and are ideally prepared for the digital future.
