The M.Sc. Tourism Futures Studies (TFS) at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences prepares graduates to shape the future of tourism and hospitality. The programme develops analytical skills, interdisciplinary knowledge, and strategic foresight to tackle complex industry challenges.

Programme Structure

The programme combines a solid theoretical foundation with practical, hands-on learning, including business simulations, case studies, project work, and role plays.

Students engage in intensive independent study, allowing them to progress at their own pace and explore areas of personal interest. They develop essential skills such as research, organisation, presentation, critical thinking, logical analysis, and goal-oriented responsibility.

Requirements and Application

The Master programme Tourism Futures Studies has restricted admission, which means you must apply for a place. 

Admission Requirements

  • An excellent or good first degree in Business Studies or in a business-related discipline, with 210 ECTS credits and a German average grade of 2.5 or better or an equivalent international qualification.
  • High proficiency in English.

ATTENTION APPLICANTS WITH A NON-GERMAN BACHELOR'S DEGREE: Before applying to Heilbronn University, you must first apply for degree recognition. 

All applications are submitted through the Heilbronn University Application Portal.  The following documents MUST be submitted with your application by the application deadline of July 15th.

  • General Certificate of Education/High School Diploma
  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) and Transcript of Academic Record
  • Proof of English-language proficiency
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Letter of Motivation (2 pages in English)
  • For non-German first degrees, a copy of the recognition confirmation/certificate

If applicable, the following can be submitted to enhance your application:

  • Certificate confirming your study/internship abroad
  • Testimonial confirming your relevant work experience after completion of your first degree
