Proto:D

Digital, collaborative prototyping ("Proto:D") for interdisciplinary collaboration within courses is being developed and tested in order to strengthen interdisciplinary idea generation and problem-solving processes, to better integrate theory and practice and in the context of applied research.

The innovation spaces Makerspace (e.g. 3D printer, laser cutter, lathe), DigiLab (e.g. VR/AR technologies, robotics building blocks) and Kreativraum (for creative teaching formats) created by the “Gründerzentrum” will be made accessible for interdisciplinary as well as innovative teaching as part of Proto:D. Digital tools and formats will enable virtual access to these spaces. In this way, practical applications are integrated into the learning environment and students are also well prepared for the world of work.

The resulting applications enable location-independent learning on the basis of project-based innovation projects, which can be initiated and carried out across faculties, locations or universities and thus also network the university's locations more closely with one another.

The results of these teaching experiments are incorporated, for example, in the master's program in the course "From the product idea to the prototype" and in other events of the university's Gründerzentrum (=start-up center), which in this way makes the innovation spaces accessible to all.
