International Study and Training Partnerships (ISAP) full scholarship for a semester abroad in Japan

Within the framework of the program “International Study and Training Partnerships (ISAP)”, a total of three full scholarships will be awarded for the summer semesters 2027 and 2028 to students of the degree programs International Business (IB‑E) and International Business & Intercultural Studies (IBIS) for a study‑abroad semester at the Nagoya University of Commerce & Business (Nagoya, Japan). The project is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with financial support from the Federal Ministry of Education, Research and Space Affairs (BMBF).

Application deadline: 31.1.2027 (for summer term 28 - the application round for summer semester 2027 has already been completed) 

Program Objective: 
The aim of the program is to establish long‑term cooperation between German and foreign universities (outside the Erasmus program countries) through reciprocal student exchange, enabling students to complete a fully recognized part of their studies at the partner university. The program also supports the exchange of teaching staff, joint curriculum development, and the establishment and expansion of international structures at the German university.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • German citizenship or equivalent status according to § 8 (1) No. 2ff., (2), (2a), and (3) BAföG
  • Full enrollment at Heilbronn University (HHN)
  • Students must have completed the basic study phase before the start of their stay abroad
  • At least 30 ECTS credits must be earned at the partner university


Selection Criteria: 

  • Proof of above‑average academic performance demonstrated by the transcript of records, showing placement in the top 25% of the cohort (50%)
  • Language proficiency in the language of instruction and/or host country – English at least level B2 (CEFR) (20%)
  • Motivation for the study‑abroad semester with regard to study location and course selection (15%)
  • Voluntary engagement, e.g. social involvement or special personal circumstances (15%)


Scholarship Benefits:

  • ISAP scholarship: €1,550 per month
  • Travel allowance: €2,100
  • Insurance allowance: €35 per month
  • Waiver of tuition fees

Step 1:

Submit your application for a study‑abroad semester via Mobility‑Online by 31 January 2027.

Step 2:

Send your application documents for the ISAP scholarship to anja.chan@hs-heilbronn.de by 31 January 2027.
