The German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act has spurred a pivotal shift in risk management practices among German companies. This legislation presents both challenges and opportunities, urging firms to rethink their approaches beyond human rights considerations for better resilience in uncertain times. To address supply chain risks effectively, companies must reassess procurement strategies, category management, and supplier relations comprehensively. This holistic approach allows for targeted risk mitigation measures, as risk avoidance, transfer or diversification. With the enactment of the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, companies are compelled to overhaul procurement-related risk management practices. This requires effort, as compliance is mandated from 2023, emphasizing the necessity for proactive steps. Embracing this opportunity for strategic transformation enables firms to build resilient risk management systems, bolstering their resilience against future uncertainties.
