Next Generation of the MIBIM Program - SPO 5

The introduction of new study and examination regulations (SPO) for the Master's program in International Business & Intercultural Management is planned for the Winter Semester 2024/2025 (subject to approval by the relevant committees).

New Program Structure

Under the new MIBIM structure, students complete a fixed set of core courses during the first semester, including courses covering key business disciplines, research methods, and intercultural communication and management.  In the second semester, students have the possibility to tailor their studies to fit their personal preferences and professional ambitions through a choice of electives.  Following the second semester, students have the option to continue directly to the Master Thesis stage of their studies, or alternatively integrate an internship or study abroad semester into their master's studies. When electing to complete an internship or semester abroad in the third semester, the Master Thesis is completed in a fourth semester.

Gaining practical experience can be an integral factor in successfully entering the job market following completion of the MIBIM program. Not only do students have the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have gained as part of the program, but they also can build additional skills.  Students electing to complete an internship during the optional 3rd semester can receive 30 ECTS points which are awarded on a pass/fail basis.

Master Thesis and Defense

The final phase of the Master's program is the thesis and defense.  Students develop their thesis on a relevant topic and, through a period of self-research, apply the knowledge they have gained during their studies. The time period given for the development and submission of the thesis is six months.  Once submitted, students must successfully defend their research and written submission.
