The focus of the telecollaboration is training the students’ English communication skills as well as creating their awareness for intercultural issues. They critically question and evaluate stereotypes. It is the first time that many of the students involved reflect on their own culture which makes them gain new insights and a better understanding for their own as well as for their partners’ cultural.
Overall feedback is positive.
The telecollaboration started with students of HHN in Sontheim and Künzelsau who, as part of their English classes, met up with students of the Braude College in Israel.
Initially 70 students held weekly virtual meetings in groups of two or three to work on different assignments provided by the teachers involved.
In the meantime, more universities are involved with currently approx. 100 groups of three to four students.
