Student Research (project ideas)

The ITTH is not only a place for established researchers and post-grads. Our goal is to bring research to the hearts of our students. Even though in the ramp-up phase of the institute we will not be able to fulfill all ideas, in the following you find offers for student research, we are working on.

Student Research Colloquium

We are currently working on a concept of a student research colloquium that allows students in writing seminar papers and thesis papers to discuss and exchange on their research questions, literature review, theoretical foundation, empirical study, and overall train of thought. We want to make it a go-to place for students that are deeply interested in the field of tourism research. At least one Professor of the institute will participate and review ideas together with the students. The atmosphere shall be open and inviting and discussion shall mainly take place between students.

Tourism Student Letters

Even though there are a multitude of journals in the market, we miss a journal for students. We have the idea to set up such a journal that copies the function of a reputated peer-review journal. This would enable students to hand in paper ideas and receive real reviewer feedback. Of course, such a student journal needs a quicker turn-around than a cutting-edge journal and for sure the rejection rate needs to be lower than in cutting-edge journals.

International Educator Mobility

Internationalization needs for exchange. Therefore, our goal is to attract researchers from all over the world for different length of stay to come over and to share their perspectives, methodologies, and beliefs with our students and us. As this needs to be organized and pre-planned, this will take a moment until we accomplish that goal.

Self-Learning modules on methodology

When students start into the academic writing courses, usually they do not yet have a full understanding what academic writing and scientific methods is about. Through written assignements students rehearse their skills. In the later semesters some of the learned technics are forgotten. This is why the ITTH is thinking about ways to build e-learning content for self-learning that covers repetitions and/or extensions of the previously learned. This ways, students can go through the most important steps on their own and according to their need.
