Thomas Gessmann Scholarship

The Thomas Gessmann Foundation awards twice yearly up to 10 scholarships to high-achieving and committed students from technical fields.

The goal is to enable students to complete their studies within the standard period of study despite financial challenges.

In addition to these scholarships, study abroad programs and master's theses can also be funded, as well as literature grants provided.

Details at a Glance

Amount

Full scholarship:
€500 monthly

Half scholarship:
€250 monthly
(Amount depends on the financial situation of the applicant)

Study abroad programs and master's theses:
€500 monthly

Literature grants:
Maximum amount of €1,000 per student

Duration

Scholarships:
Usually 2 semesters (12 months)

A one-time extension of an already running scholarship is possible.

Study abroad programs and master's theses:
For a maximum of the duration of the stay abroad or the duration of completing the master's thesis

Who

Students in technical fields who are still within the standard period of study.

Students who are at least in their 3rd bachelor or maximum 1st master semester (applications are accepted during the 2nd semester of the bachelor's program).

Students who are recommended by a professor at HHN (letter of recommendation).

Financially needy students.

Applications must be submitted exclusively through the online application portal in German or English.

  • Letter of motivation
  • Detailed tabular curriculum vitae
  • Graduation certificates
  • Information on the current status and progress of studies, field of study, the number of semesters completed, and academic credits earned (transcripts, preliminary diploma, internships, etc.)
  • At least one letter of recommendation from a university professor
  • Meaningful and documented information regarding financial and social circumstances (e.g., copy of BAföG notification, copy of parents' income tax return, etc.)
  • Information regarding hobbies and leisure activities
