Rules for Pick-up of Media (Pre-Order via Online-Catalogue)
  • Bildungscampus: Pick-up of media on campus is possible 24/7 via the pick-up station of the LIV Library
  • HN-Sontheim, Künzelsau, Schwäbisch Hall: Pick-up of media on campus is possible by appointment

Rules for Mailing of Media (Pre-Order via E-Mail)

The mailing of media is possible if there are valid reasons (e.g. quarantine order, symptoms of illness).

Requirements for an order:

  1. The requested medium is NOT electronically available, please check the Online-Catalogue of your institution (HHN, DHBW: LIV Online Catalogue). Please note: For members of TUM Heilbronn, media from TUM UB in Munich is not available through our mailing service, for electronic media see: TUM UB Online Catalogue)
  2. Complete the user information: Last name, first name, student / staff ID, postal address and valid reason for postage
  3. Include the following data in you order: Title (full), author, ISBN, signature (all information is provided in the LIV Online Catalogue)
  4. Pre-Order the print media by sending an email to

Rules for Returning of Media
  • Bildungscampus, HN-Sontheim: 24/7 automated returning machine
  • Künzelsau, Schwäbisch Hall: 24/7 non-automated returning box
  • Books can be returned on all sites of LIV Library regardless of where you originally checked them out.
  • Return by post / DHL to Heilbronn University, Library LIV, Max-Planck-Str. 39, 74081 Heilbronn or Bibliothek LIV, Bildungscampus 15, 74076 Heilbronn. We recommend a return as a small parcel (trackable and insured).
General Rules
  • 2G rule - access only for library users with proof of vaccination or recovery. When entering the library, users are required to provide a digital proof of vaccination or a digital convalescent certificate. The 2G proof is only valid in connection with a valid photo ID (e.g. identity card, driver's license or passport). In addition, proof of university affiliation (student / staff ID, CampusCard) must be presented.
  • Please note: Only for members of HHN and DHBW still applies the proof of 3G (vaccinated – recovered – tested).
  • Contact tracking is mandatory. Personal data of all persons accessing the library premises will be collected by a contact form (please bring it with you) or by log-in via LucaApp (QR code is displayed in the entrance area of ​​the LIV Library) according to CoronaVO regulations in order to allow backtracking if necessary.
  • FFP2 masks are mandatory. Library users are obliged to wear a FFP2 mask in the correct manner while present at the library. You are not allowed to remove the mask within the library building at any time.
  • A minimum distance of 1.5 metres between two persons must be maintained at all time.
  • Access is not permitted if the mentioned regulations above are not followed as well as in case of a confirmed infection, knowingly unprotected contact with a confirmed COVID-19 patient, officially ordered domestic quarantine or symptoms of respiratory diseases.
Registration for use of LIV Library

Registration takes place upon personal application on campus in the library building (Bildungscampus 15) or by requesting the registration form Staff ID or Student ID are required to register. Students of HHN, DHBW Heilbronn and DHBW CAS will be automatically registered during the matriculation process.

Members of HHN (Heilbronn University of Applied Science), DHBW (Corporate State University of Baden-Württemberg) and TUM Campus Heilbronn (Technical University of Munich Campus Heilbronn) can register free of charge.

Members of the institutions located on the Bildungscampus can register as external users of the LIV Library, also free of charge:

Terms of use

Applicants from TUM Campus Heilbronn and external users are assigned to Heilbronn University. For further information: Usage regulations and fee regulations.

  • Max. Number of loans (at the same time): 10 media
  • Loan period for books: 21 days, renewable up to 6 times
  • Period of loan for magazines: 3 days, no extension possible
  • Reference holdings (e.g. semester collections, loose-leaf collections) cannot be borrowed
  • Interlibrary loan fee: 1.50 € per order and medium
  • The use of electronic media is only possible on site within the library building

In order to slow the spread of the coronavirus Sars-CoV-2 and the COVID-19 disease, our library's operations have been placed under restrictions to help to limit personal contacts to what is absolutely necessary and to reduce the risk of infection.

Rules for the Use of Study Areas
  • The reservation of a study desk must be submitted via the library‘s ticket service
  • Users are obliged to present the reservation confirmation in addition to the 2G/3G proof, student/staff ID and identity card.
  • Bildungscampus: The LIV Library provides personal study desks for single use only (2nd - 5th floor) and a max. of 2 people in the group work rooms (2nd floor).
  • HN-Sontheim, Künzelsau, Schwäbisch Hall: The LIV Library provides study desks for single use only.
  • Self-seating and working in groups is prohibited. Seating outside the personal study seat is prohibited.
Rules for the Use of Media from the Library Shelves
  • Access to the LIV Library is permitted under the regulations mentioned above (see general rules). For HN-Sontheim, Künzelsau, Schwäbisch Hall a reservation via the library‘s ticket service is mandatory, if you are a unimmunized member of HHN and DHBW.
  • Borrowing is only possible via the self-check-out, the student / staff / library card is mandatory for the check-out process.
  • At the shelves, the distance of 1.5 m must be strictly observed.
  • Study areas for reading the media are not available.
