Internship abroad

Health services are usually covered by the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Please check with your health insurance company to be sure!

ERASMUS+ also funds internships for students in host institutions in another European country (excluded are EU institutions or institutions managing EU programmes as well as diplomatic representations of the students' countries of origin). Students can gain work experience in an international environment and can enhance their key skills such as communication and cooperation skills, openness and knowledge of other cultures and markets.

Students can receive funding for compulsory or voluntary internships of two to twelve months.

The funding rates for the respective project year are adjusted by the coordination office in Karlsruhe (KOOR - Erasmus Services BW).

The programme offers the following benefits:

• Monthly grant of up to 555 euros (depending on the country)
• EU internship contract between university, company and student
• Support in preparing the stay abroad
• Support during the internship by a contact person both at your home university (internship office of your study programme) and at the company
• Recognition of credits earned abroad

Health insurance abroad is mandatory.
For internships outside the EU, you need a visa and, if necessary, a work permit.
