Registration

According to Section 26 of the Study and Examination Regulations (SPO), the topic of the Bachelor's thesis must be registered for:

  • 7-semester courses of study: at the earliest in the sixth semester
  • 6-semester courses of study: at the earliest in the fifth semester

According to Section 21 SPO, the topic of the Master's thesis must be registered for:

  • 3-semester courses of study: at the earliest after the lecture period of the second semester
  • 4-semester courses of study: at the earliest in the fourth semester

The thesis must be reported at the latest six months after the end of the semester in which the last examination was successfully passed.

Extension

After distribution of the topic, the time for writing Bachelor's theses is four months and for Master's theses six months. On application, the time for writing can be extended by a maximum of two months; the decision about this is made by the responsible examination committee.

Submission

A copy of the thesis must be submitted in correct form and on time to the Central Examination Office. It must include the affidavit form signed by the student.

The thesis must be evaluated by two examiners; the evaluation process shall not take longer than four weeks.
