Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences

Network access

The University of Applied Sciences provides a wireless network (WLAN) that you can access from anywhere on the campus with a laptop or any other mobile device. Access to the campus network from home (or another location) is possible via VPN client. Click the following link for a selection of networks and instructions for WLAN access: http://www.hs-heilbronn.de/rz/netzzugang (registration: login name and password of your University account; if a domain is required: HHN)

WLAN is provided for all members of the University. There are currently two networks with different access modalities:

  • belwue (Heilbronn and Schwäbisch Hall) / rwh (Künzelsau)
  • eduroam

The "belwue" network and the "rwh" network in Künzelsau provide free access to the University's intranet. For access to the internet, however, a so-called VPN client is required. Besides access to the network of Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences, students also gain access to the website of institutions that take part in so-called "BelWue roaming".

Unfortunately, the VPN client is not yet available for all device types. In particular, users with smartphones and similar devices are at a disadvantage when it comes to the "belwue" network and should instead use the "eduroam" network.

Current devices do not require any special software to use the "eduroam" network. The device only needs to support WPA/WPA2 and 802.1x (PEAP), which is generally the case. Should the device fail to make a connection, please check whether you have installed the certificates required. "eduroam" allows you to access the network via participating institutions nearly everywhere worldwide. Further information on the "eduroam" network is provided on the Eduroam homepage.
