Entry Requirements

The following-mentioned admission requirements comply with the statutes of the Master's programme Software Engineering and Management which can be downloaded here.

Grade

Applicants should have an excellent or good European first degree (a German average grade of 2.5 or better). But finally we need your certificate of the "Studienkolleg - Center for International Students" to check it.

Applicants with a first degree from a non-German institute must prove, before applying to Heilbronn University, that their Bachelor’s degree is equivalent to a German first degree. This means they have to apply twice – once at the Studienkolleg Konstanz and once at our university. In order to have the qualifications validated, please contact the Studienkolleg – Center for International Students in Konstanz.

The Center for International Students will assess their Bachelor's degree and decide if it meets the requirements for entering a Master's degree programme in Germany.

All relevant information you may find on the website of the Center for International Students.

Postal address:
Center for International Students
Brauneggerstr. 55
78462 Konstanz
Germany

The Center for International Students will confirm recognition with a paper of validation which must be sent together with the appropriate application to the university.

Please note the differing application deadlines of the Center for International Students in Konstanz:

  • 1st May for the winter semester
  • 1st November for the summer semester

Your application can only be considered if all required documents (including the certification of the Studienkolleg Konstanz) reached Heilbronn University on the due date (January 15 for the summer semester and July 15 for the winter semester). Please note that theses are cut-off periods.

Applicants from China, Vietnam or Mongolia have to submit the certificate of APS ("Akademische Prüfstelle") as well.

International applicants for Medical Informatics do not have to send their documents to the Center for International Students in Konstanz or uni assist.

They only have to send their documents to Heilbronn University.

ECTS Equivalence

We require a first degree of 210 ETCS credits. Applicants with a first degree in computer science who have achieved a minimum of 180 ECTS credits may also apply; they will be requested to obtain an extra 30 ECTS credits in appropriate Bachelor programmes at Heilbronn University (e.g. in the Bachelor's programme Software Engineering).
