Tuition fees

The state of Baden-Württemberg has passed a law introducing tuition fees of EUR 1.500 per semester for newly enrolled international students not from EU/EEA countries as well as EUR 650 for second degree students.

Costs for living and accommodation are not included in the tuition fees. Additionally to the tuition fees there is also the semester fee (administration, student services and student’s union) of currently EUR 142.50 per semester.

The fees are for international students who enter for the purpose of study. Students from the EU, the European Economic Area (EEA) and students who are part of an Erasmus Program are excluded from these fees. Refugees are also not affected. Students who have already begun their studies or who start in the summer semester 2017 are also unconcerned. Students who received their general qualification for university entrance in Germany without German citizenship are excluded.


Tuition fee for international students

International students who enter the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg due to reasons of study and are enrolled at any of their universities from winter semester 2017/18 are affected of this tuition fee.
The tuition fee amounts  EUR 1,500 per semester.
  • Students with the nationality of a member state of the European Union (EU)

  • Students with the nationality of another signatory of the agreement about the European Economic Area (EEA)

  • International students with a German higher education entrance qualification

Regulation on Exemption from Fees for International Students as of February 13, 2018

Heilbronn university exempts a limited number of international students within the meaning of Article 3 of the State Law on Higher Education Fees (LHGebG) from the obligation to pay the tuition fee for international students.

At the beginning of the summer semester the number of exemptions to be tendered (“tender”) for an academic year are made public. 

Students are eligible to apply if they are enrolled with or admitted to study programs at Heilbronn University, are or will be matriculated at Heilbronn University at the beginning of the approval period, and are subject to fees according to Article 3 of the State Law on Higher Education Fees.

There are different time limits for the academic year 2017/18

The recommendation is to budget exemption to EUR 1500.00 and is restricted for the regular period of study.


Tuition fee for second degree students

Second degree students have graduated from another German university or post-secondary institution, and now want to pursue a second degree at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences.

It is not a second degree course if the first study course has not been finished.

Students who want to study a second or further German bachelor degree or a second or further German master degree.
The tuition fee amounts EUR 650 per semester.

The tuition fee for a second degree course will not incurred if the tuition fee for international students of  EUR1,500 is already paid.

It is not a second degree course if the first study course has not been finished.

Reimbursement

Tuition fees, which have already been paid, may be reimbursed, in particular,

- if you fulfilled the exception criteria before enrolment or re-enrolment but were not able to provide the necessary documents of proof,

- if you qualify for an exception according to the relevant legal regulations within one month of the lecture period beginning

- if you removal from enrolment within one month of lecture period beginning.
