Exchange students

Studying abroad is just an amazing experience. It is unique from the personal as well as academic point of view. Being for a few months in an international environment is the best opportunity to establish intercultural contacts, have a valuable insight into a different culture, learn a language and grow as a person.

ERASMUS is the EU's flagship education and training programme enabling 200,000 students to study and work abroad each year. In addition, it funds co-operation between higher education institutions across Europe. More than 2.2 million students have participated since it started in 1987.

International applicants who wish to study for one or two semesters at Heilbronn University are normally enrolled at one of our more than 120 partner universities abroad. Normally this takes place as part of an exchange programme (e.g. ERASMUS). Such an exchange place permits taking part in all regular lectures and examinations.

Students wishing to attend our lectures will normally have to have excellent German skills. The exception are those students enrolling in one of our internationally orientated (English language) study programmes such as Business Management, International Business – Intercultural Studies or Tourism Management.

Students wishing to study at Heilbronn University as part of a cooperation agreement will first have to apply with the correct section of their home university. The relevant application deadlines and selection procedures will apply.

Only once your university confirms the application you can apply to Heilbronn University by using the “Application form for Incoming students" which can be obtained from the International Office.

Please enclose the following documents with the completed application form, signed and stamped by your home university:

  • Transcript of records
  • CV / resumé
  • Study programme

Application deadline is

  • 15th May June for the winter term
  • 1st December for the summer term.
