Master’s degree seeking applicants
Applicants which like to join a Master Programme of Heilbronn University will have to satisfy the following entry requirements:
- university entrance qualification (Abitur, Fachhochschulreife or international equivalent, e.g. high school leaving certificate)
- first / undergraduate university degree (Bachelor, Diplom) in a subject area related to that of the master program you are intending to apply for
- excellent English and / or German language skills
International applicants from Non-EU countries must prove, before applying to Heilbronn University, that their Bachelor’s degree is equivalent to a German first degree. In order to have your qualifications validated, please contact the "Ausländerstudienkolleg" (ASK) in Kobnstanz.
The ASK will assess your Bachelor's degree and decide if it meets the requirements for entering a Master's degree programme in Germany

Chinese, Mongolian and Vietnamese applicants have to attach the original certificate or the original confirmation that proves the authenticity of their documents issued by the "Akademische Prüfstelle" of the German Embassy (APS).

The ASK or the APS will confirm recognition with a paper of validation which must be sent together with the appropriate application to the university.
German language requirements
Most of the Master’s degree programmes at Heilbronn University are taught primarily in German. Degree-seeking students must provide evidence of proficiency in German*, by means of either
- DSH (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang / German Language Examination for Academic Purposes) - DSH-2 or DSH-3 are required for admission to Heilbronn University, or
- TestDaF (Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache / Test in German as a Foreign Language) - The average result must be at least TDN 4.

English language requirements
Some Master programmes are completely or partly held in English**. The established overall minimum English language requirements for admission are:
- IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
with a minimum score of 6.0 points (in all categories)

The application for one of our Master programmes has to be in writing using the appropriate application form of the selected Master programme. Please send it directly to the admission office in question. The correct address is printed on the application form. The official application forms can be obtained from the relevant contact persons for the Master programme in question.
The application deadlines of the Master programmes vary according to the Master Programme in question and can change throughout the year. Please check directly within the site of the relevant programme.
Your completed application must arrive at the University not later than the mentioned deadlines.
Please note that, for reasons of data protection, we are not able to give any information over the telephone about the status of your application.
Applications which are submitted after the deadline, or which are incomplete, will not be considered.
If there are more applicants than available study places, the places will be awarded in accordance with a ranking which is the result of a selection process. This selection process is based on the application materials submitted by the applicants. It varies from one Master programme to the next.
Heilbronn University will issue a letter of admission (Zulassungsbescheid) to all applicant who have submitted their applications within the deadline, who have satisfied the entry requirements and who have been awarded a study place as a result of the selection procedure.
All applicants who have received such an offer have to accept it in writing within a ten-day deadline otherwise their right to join their chosen study programme will lapse!
