Workload of the Master's Programme
The M.Sc. Software Engineering and Management has been planned for a full-time study within three semesters (18 months). Each semester is organized into three modules, (almost) each module into three course units.
All in all, each module has a workload of 10 ECTS (ca. 250 hours per semester):
The workload is expressed by ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits. One credit point is approximatly 25 hours of your work during a semester. Each module and course defines a number of credit points that you gain by passing the examination, as well outline the workload of that specific module or course. For further details about the workload please see the following figure and/or the handbook of modules.

By the way, courses offer contact hours at the university for lessons, exercises and guided teamwork and require self study alone at home or in student working teams, preparing lectures, presentation or examination.
Students are expected to attend all scheduled teaching activities and undertake such work as may be required of them. In some instances, for good reason, attendance is compulsory. As scheduled classes are your main contact with your lecturers, it is important that you maximise your opportunity to learn. Please ensure that other meetings, visits or appointments avoid class times. If you really cannot make a class please let your lecturer know in advance. Sustained absence will jeopardise your chances of success.
